Seth Barnard
Architect || Graphic Artist

Seth Barnard is an architect/ artist living in Berkeley, CA. After finishing graduate school, he found a job at an architecture office in San Francisco. His 45-minute commute between Berkeley and San Francisco fuels his images — riding on BART and biking through the beautifully grotesque Tenderloin. Staring at an LCD for 8 hours a day serves as a motivational tool to create works on paper — an act that needs constant exercise to maintain potency. His lady, a poet, writes highly visual and surreal poetry, creating pictures with words. This influences Seth’s work, in which tries to do the inverse: translate thoughts into images. After working all day, there is nothing he’d rather do thank doodle away on the couch. As Tom Robbins would say: “The bliss of a penciled line snaking across the Eden of a blank sheet of paper.”
